Biochemistry Mission Statement

The mission of the Department of Biochemistry at Primeasia University (DB-PAU) is to advance knowledge in biochemical, biomedical, and biotechnological sciences through excellence in learning, research, discovery, and engagement; and to serve as a diverse, student-centered research department to develop highly skilled biochemist to serve the demand of local and global needs. The overall goal is to train students to be not only independent creative thinkers but also role models in the community at large.

To perform the mission, DB-PAU aims to foster

  • To educate biochemists committed to the innovative and ethical application of biochemical, biomedical, and biotechnological sciences in addressing the societal needs.
  • To develop and nurture perspectives and skills in diverse fields of biochemical, biomedical, and biotechnological sciences in our students, faculty, and alumni.
  • To apply and disseminate the diversified biochemical, biomedical, and biotechnological knowledge that benefits the well-being of societies
  • To provide national leadership in enhancing the role and visibility of the biochemistry profession in the education of our youth and the development and implementation of public policy.

Biochemistry Vision

The Department of Biochemistry at Primeasia University (DB-PAU) will become a leading private sector biochemistry Department in Bangladesh with a focus in student centered learning and researches in diversified fields of life sciences.

Department Overview

The Department of Biochemistry (DB) is one of four applied science Departments within the School of Biological Sciences of Primeasia University. DB offers 4 years B. Sc. (Honors) program in Biochemistry. This is a world-class program consisting of 148 credits in 12 semesters. The program is aimed at providing the students a solid background for their future careers related to teaching , researches and jobs in biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, genetic engineering, public health, pathology, environment and pollution control, immunology, quality assessment of pharmaceuticals and food products, bioinformatics and biomedical -related disciplines.
To achieve such goal, the Biochemistry Department has recruited highly qualified professors and lecturers who are committed to producing quality teaching, research and consultancy services in the areas of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Biotechnology and related disciplines.
Students are also required to take general courses including English, statistics and Fundamentals of Computer so as to develop outstanding human resources to the world; individuals that will be able to meet the needs of the constantly changing social demands.
Laboratory experimentations are routine throughout academic year to reinforce learning in the classroom and fully-equipped laboratories are available in the department for regular laboratory courses as well as the project works at the end of B.Sc. (Hons). A viva voce is also taken at the end of every year in B.Sc. (Hons). The major objective of Biochemistry Program is to provide sufficiently broad educational opportunities in the biochemistry and biotechnology related fields so that each student encounters and utilizes interdisciplinary and state-of-the-art approaches to excel in their educational and career endeavor.
