Research in the Department of Biochemistry focuses on fundamental biochemical, biomedical, and applied biotechnological aspects. Faculty members study the synthesis, structure, and actions of important biomolecules such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, DNA, and RNA. The department has initiated research collaboration with a Malaysian frontline research university to conduct PCR, polymorphic DNA marker, oxidative stress, dementia, and aging related studies involving the 4th year students. Faculty members and the departmental research students work hard to maintain a collegial, cooperative, and supportive environment to accelerate the research outcome.
